sweep-bench: add -minilog argument to reduce verbose logging (#1468)
Purpose:
Add --minilog flag to llama-sweep-bench that filters log output to show only essential GPU/layer distribution information while suppressing verbose model metadata and per-layer device assignment messages.

Changes:
- Add llama_selective_log_callback with blacklist approach (sweep-bench.cpp)

Blacklisted patterns (hidden):
- Per-layer device assignments ('Setting default device in layer')
- KV metadata dump header and entries
- Tensor type counts
- Model validation messages
- EOG/special token cache info
- Metadata printout (llm_load_print_meta, print_info)
- Layer sizes table
- Tensor loading info (llm_load_tensors)
- Separator lines
- Most common cases of incomplete/continuation lines are also hidden

All other log output is shown, including:
- GPU VRAM info
- Split/buffer distribution per device
- Graph split estimates
- Final benchmark table and timings

fix: propagate CPPHTTPLIB_OPENSSL_SUPPORT to cpp-httplib target when LLAMA_SERVER_SSL=ON (#1451)
Without this, libcpp-httplib.a is compiled without SSL support, causing
an undefined reference to httplib::SSLServer at link time even though
the OpenSSL libraries are present on the link line.

Fixes #1449

The jinja template parser was missing the 'in' test from
global_builtins(), causing templates using reject("in", ...),
select("in", ...), or 'x is in(y)' to fail with
"selectattr: unknown test 'in'".

This broke tool-calling for Qwen3-Coder and any other model
whose chat template uses the 'in' test.

Added test_is_in supporting array, string, and object containment
checks, mirroring the existing 'in' operator logic in runtime.cpp.

Includes test cases for all three containment types plus
reject/select filter usage.

Thanks to @tugot17 for detecting and reporting the issue.

For vision models (e.g. LFM2.5-VL-1.6B and Qwen/Qwen3-VL-4B-Instruct) `llama-mtmd-cli` produces identical output to HF implementation.

However `llama-server` doesn't. I traced it down to extra newline
inserted after `<__media__>`.

This happens in `to_json_oaicompat`, that treats media markers as text
and joins all parts with `\n` separator.

PR introduces new type `media_marker` and uses it for media markers.
Extra logic is added to prevent insertion of newlines before and after
media markers.

With this change number of input tokens is identical to HF
implementation and as a result the output is also identical.

I explored other ways to address the issue
* remove completely `\n` between text parts in `to_json_oaicompat`
* merge text messages in server-common.cpp before sending them to `to_json_oaicompat`

Please propose alternative ways of fixing this issue.

- Allows to partially requantize a split quantized .gguf by requantizing only the missing splits in the destination directory.
- Works both for GGUF which are split tensors by tensors, or by group of several tensors (though this one is not very much tested beyond 2 tensors by split).

server: propagate task index to response objects for batch requests (#1303)
When multiple prompts are sent in a single /v1/completions request,
each response needs to carry the correct index so the client can
match results to their corresponding prompts. The index field was
not being set on partial responses, final responses, or embedding
responses, causing batch results to all report index 0.

Set res->index = slot.task->index in send_partial_response,
send_final_response, and send_embedding.

server: add dynamic control vector management endpoints (#1223)
This implements the ability to load, unload, and scale control vectors
(representation engineering) mid-inference, following the existing
task-queue pattern used by LoRA adapters.

New Endpoints:
- GET  /control-vectors
- POST /control-vectors/load
- POST /control-vectors/unload
- POST /control-vectors/apply (handles scaling)

Technical Notes:
- Centralizes vector aggregation logic to share implementation between
  load, unload, and apply tasks.
- Vectors are applied globally to the model context.
- Enforces dimension validation on load to safely reject incompatible
  vectors.

Merge ffn_up and ffn_gate experts tensors (#1137)

However, extremely stupid. The only way I could correctly repack the
up/gate experts is to copy up and gate into host buffers, repack
into another host buffer, copy back into the ffn_up_gate_exps tensor.
This is going to be very slow for giant 500 GB models.

My attempts to do this via a compute graph on the backend holding
the tensors was unsuccessful.

For GPT-OSS-20B I see ~6-7% better PP when using the original
ik_llama.cpp fused_up_gate CUDA implementation, and ~10% when
using the small batch size implementation.

Other models are not working yet on CUDA as I need to fix the
fused mul-unary implementation.

Kawrakow a719349982 POC: CUDA tensor parallel (MoE models) (#1022)
* Remove most of split mode row

* WIP

* WIP: also allocate the KV cache using tensor split

* WIP: it runs with wrong result

But it also looks like the backend scheduler is not going to help:
* It copies mask and input positions to GPU 0
* => RoPE ops must run on GPU 0
* => To proceed attn evaluation, GPU 1 must wait for GPU 0 to finish its
     entire attn calculation
* Same with FFN. The rms_norm gets scheduled on GPU 0. Hence, GPU 1 must
  wait for GPU 0 to finish its entore FFN calculation before it can
  start (as it needs to copy the result of rms_norm from GPU 0)
* => Seems useless without writing a bespoke TP scheduling

* WIP

* This works, but it is slow

* This is slightly better

the graph is still not being computed in parallel.
Why? Because the scheduler creates graph splits where the
result of the computation on one GPU becomes an input for the
other split. Hence, to trigger the computation on the second GPU
one needs to wait for the computation on the first GPU to finish,
even thiough the two can be done in parallel up to the sunchronization
point. So, all that is left to do is to trick the scheduler to create
to splits that can be done in parallel, and then have a graph split
where the results get combined.

* Playing games with the scheduler

This change tricks it into doing the right thing^TM.
Still quite a bit slower than split mode layer for the 8B LlaMA model.
But for the 70B LlaMA it now beats split mode layer for TG:
28 t/s vs 24.4 t/s. PP is 627 t/s vs 744 t/s.
In comparison, split mode "row" in mainline gets
484 t/s PP and 19.3 t/s TG.

* Fix attn split

Granularity for Wq, Wo is not just head size, but
head size * gqa_ratio.
Else the Wk, Wv tensors end up not being a multiple of the
head size when we divide the split determined by Wo with
the gqa_ratio.

* Show memory used per device

* Make it work with partial offload

but no tensor overrides yet, just ngl < num_layers.

* Allow for f16 source in fused_rms_norm

* This results in faster PP.

Now PP is faster than split mode layer for L3-70B.

* Rename split mode "row" to split mode "graph"

PP is already better than split mode layer, but TG for zero context
is kind of low - 60 vs 92 t/s. TG becomes better than split mode layer

It issues a warning that there is an extra semicolon outside of a function,
but there isn't. If I remove the anonymous namespace and turn the
functions inside into static, the warning disapears, so clearly
a compiler bug.

* Make graph reuse work with split mode graph

Runs with wrong results, don't see where the issue could be.

Still does not work for row-interleaved quants

* grammar : fix JSON Schema for string regex with top-level alt. (#9903)

Prior to this commit, using a JSON Schema containing a string
with `pattern` regular expression that uses top-level alternation
(e.g. `"pattern": "^A|B|C|D$"`) would result in invalid JSON
output from the constrained sampling grammar, because it
ended up creating a grammar rule like this for the string:

```
thing ::= "\"" "A" | "B" | "C" | "D" "\"" space
```

Note that this rule will only match a starting quote for the "A" case,
and will only match an ending quote for the "D" case,
so this rule will always produce invalid JSON when used for sampling
(that is, the JSON will always be lacking the starting quote,
the ending quote, or both).

This was fixed in a simple way by adding parentheses to the
generated rule (for all string pattern rules, to keep it simple),
such that the new generated rule looks like this (correct):

```
thing ::= "\"" ("A" | "B" | "C" | "D") "\"" space
```

Yap Sok Ann 7505165dee Fix truncated logprobs when streaming is off (#998)
The logic to skip the logprobs of the stop token was originally from
ggml-org/llama.cpp#2849, and was later modified as part of
ggml-org/llama.cpp#10643 to be applied only to STOP_TYPE_WORD.

The latter change wasn't included in #723. Then, after #958 got merged,
the logic got inadvertently applied to GLM-4.5/4.6 and Kimi K2,
resulting in truncated logprobs when streaming is off.

This commit reverts the logic from ggml-org/llama.cpp#2849, such that
the logprobs of the stop token will always be included in the response,
when logprobs is enabled. From testing, this matches with the behavior
of Fireworks inference server, for both chat completions and text
completions endpoints.

Also fix logprobs param handling for the text completion endpoint.

Implemented a missing MDAST stage to neutralize raw HTML like major LLM WebUIs
do ensuring consistent and safe Markdown rendering

Introduced 'remarkLiteralHtml', a plugin that converts raw HTML nodes in the
Markdown AST into plain-text equivalents while preserving indentation and
line breaks. This ensures consistent rendering and prevents unintended HTML
execution, without altering valid Markdown structure

Kept 'remarkRehype' in the pipeline since it performs the required conversion
from MDAST to HAST for KaTeX, syntax highlighting, and HTML serialization

Refined the link-enhancement logic to skip unnecessary DOM rewrites,
fixing a subtle bug where extra paragraphs were injected after the first
line due to full innerHTML reconstruction, and ensuring links open in new
tabs only when required

Final pipeline: remarkGfm -> remarkMath -> remarkBreaks -> remarkLiteralHtml
-> remarkRehype -> rehypeKatex -> rehypeHighlight -> rehypeStringify

Yap Sok Ann 4f9b0ec4f0 Fix logprobs (#787)
This commit is mostly a cherry-pick of ggml-org/llama.cpp#10783, plus
optimization to do partial sort when sorting the logits.

That mainline PR and friends were partially cherry-picked by #723, but
wasn't really in a working state yet.

A couple of additional changes:
* Include timing information in response, which was (unintentionally?)
  done in mainline since ggml-org/llama.cpp#10643.
* Also return the actual logprobs for accepted draft tokens. This is
  still a TODO in mainline [1].

Note that there is a TG performance penalty to return the logprobs, as
we need to sort the logits. By doing partial sort, the penalty is quite
small. Here are some numbers I got using the same prompt:

This PR with partial sort:
* no draft, no logprobs: 12.87 tok/s
* no draft, with logprobs: 12.61 tok/s (2.0% drop)
* with draft, no logprobs: 36.74 tok/s
* with draft, with logprobs: 36.12 tok/s (1.7% drop)

If cherry-pick the full sort from mainline PR:
* no draft, no logprobs: 12.81 tok/s
* no draft, with logprobs: 12.02 tok/s (6.2% drop)
* with draft, no logprobs: 36.59 tok/s
* with draft, with logprobs: 29.08 tok/s (20.5% drop)

Anton Sokolchenko 05a61510b9 Fix Qwen3 content extraction breaking code formatting (#661)
Problem:
- qwen3::extract_content_during_parsing() used aggressive regex to collapse multiple newlines
- This broke proper code formatting (e.g., PEP 8's 2 empty lines between functions)
- Affected non-tool-call streaming output where formatting is critical

Solution:
- Replace aggressive std::regex_replace(R"(\n\s*\n)", "\n") with gentle string_strip()
- Follow original llama.cpp patterns: only trim leading/trailing whitespace
- Preserve internal formatting including multiple newlines
- Add proper include for common.h to access string_strip function

Changes:
- examples/server/parsers/qwen3_parser.hpp: Replace whitespace cleanup with string_strip()
- tests/test-function-calls.cpp: Add test_qwen3_whitespace_preservation() to prevent regression

Testing:
-  PEP 8 compliance: 2 empty lines between functions preserved
-  Tool call parsing: All Qwen3 tests continue to pass
-  No regressions: Existing functionality maintained

vulkan : mul_mat: fix UB with small warps (ggml/952)

When the device's warp size is less than 16,
it is possible for loadstride_a (mul_mm.comp:114)
and loadstride_b (mul_mm.comp:115) to be set to 0.
Because they are calculated as: the workgroup size,
multiplied by LOAD_VEC_* (which can be 1) and divided by 16.
And the workgroup size is set to be the same as the
warp/subgroup size.

The loadstride_* variables are used as increments in the
loops that populate the buffers used for the multiplication.

When they are 0 they cause an infinite loop.
But infinite loops without side-effects are UB and the
values of loadstride_* are known at compile time.
So, the compiler quietly optimizes all the loops away.
As a consequence, the buffers are not populated and
the multiplication result is just a matrix with all elements
set to 0.

We prevent the UB by making sure that the workgroup size
will never be less than 16, even if our device has a
smaller warp size (e.g. 8).

In Vulkan it's not possible to cast pointer types, so instead you have to
declare an aliased binding for the memory with a different type. This
commit adds aliases for the quant formats using 16b ints, and in a few
places where the struct size is a multiple of 4 also using 32b ints.
Currently only q4_k's aliases are used, but others will be used in
subsequent commits.

* vulkan: use larger loads in q5_k and q6_k shaders.

Similar to the optimization I did in q4_k recently, this vectorizes some loads
and reduces the number of bit twiddling instructions.

* vulkan: use larger K step per iteration in mul_mat_vec.

Add vec4 dequantization functions, and use them to do K=8 per iteration in
mul_mat_vec. This uses 16b loads for the quant values and 128b loads for B
which helps reduce the load on the memory system.

The K_PER_ITER==2 logic is still there, just for F16/F32, and really only
because they support unaligned sizes.

Tweak the num_iters/unrolling logic to be simpler and catch a couple missed
unrolling opportunities.

vulkan: fix coopmat2 validation failures (#11284)

mul mat and flash attention shaders were loading f32 types directly into
A/B matrices, which happens to work but is technically invalid usage.
For FA, we can load it as an Accumulator matrix and convert and this
is not in the inner loop and is cheap enough. For mul mat, it's more
efficient to do this conversion in a separate pass and have the input(s)
be f16.

coopmat2 requires SPIR-V 1.6 (related using to LocalSizeId). LocalSizeId
requires maintenance4 be enabled, and SPIR-V 1.6 requires Vulkan 1.3.

vulkan: fix diag_mask_inf (#11323)

With robustbufferaccess disabled, this shader was showing OOB stores. There
is a bounds check in the code, but the workgrouop dimensions were reversed vs
CUDA and it was running the wrong number of threads. So fix the workgroup
dimensions and disable robustness for this pipeline.

and reduce the number of workgroups (too much overhead from tiny dispatches).

q4_k and q5_k had a lot of redundant global loads where the same 16B of
scale information is repeatedly loaded and decoded during each loop iteration.
This change restructures the loops to more explicitly iterate over whole
blocks in the outer loop (with unrolled inner loop) and to copy/decode the
scale data into shared memory once at the start of each outer loop. The copy
is pipelined so the scale load from global memory is relatively cheap.

This improves q4_k/q5_k model prompt processing performance by around 5-7%.
I briefly tried applying this to q6_k and q4_0, and it didn't help for q6_k
and hurt for q4_0.

The big "else" path in mul_mm_cm2.comp that had all the clamped/unclamped
variants isn't used as often as it originally was (e.g. due to the padded_N
change), so I trimmed it down to offset some of the new complexity of the
semi-manual loop unrolling.

vulkan: use aligned loads for flash attention mask (#12853)

Rewrite the stride logic for the mask tensor in the FA shader to force the
stride to be aligned, to allow using more efficient loads.

vulkan: enable coopmat2 FA gqa and split_k optimizations more often (#12931)

The grouped query attention optmization doesn't require a power of two ratio,
the only thing relying on it was the modulo operation written as bitwise &.

split_k need not depend on gqa_ratio - enable it any time there's only one
workgroup in the X dimension. The shader gets the split index from the x coord,
and multiple workgroups in the X dimension (pre-split) indicates a larger
FA operation that wouldn't need splitting.

  `set_tensor_hash`, and `get_tensor` handlers with error
  logging and returning `false` when data/offset parameters
  are out of buffer bounds.
- **Size Checks:** Added safe arithmetic checks (for overflow) in
  `graph_compute` when calculating required message sizes based
  on client-provided `n_nodes` and `n_tensors`. Returns early
  if the reported sizes conflict with the actual message size or
  would lead to overflow.
- **Error Propagation:**
    - `create_node` now checks for `nullptr` return values from
      `deserialize_tensor` and its recursive calls, propagating
